UAE-based Indian businessman kidnapped in Kerala, rescued

Four suspects arrested in connection with the Rs 1.5 crore ransom plot

A United Arab Emirates (UAE)-based Indian businessman who was abducted in Kerala has been safely rescued by the police, with four men taken into custody over the crime, reported siasat.com.

The victim, 40-year-old VP Shameer Medon, co-owner of a Dubai-based pharmacy chain and restaurants, was kidnapped in Malappuram district after returning to his hometown for a short visit.

According to reports, the incident took place on the evening of Tuesday, August 12, when Shameer’s motorcycle was intercepted near Pandikkad. CCTV footage showed several men forcing him into a Toyota Innova before driving away.

 

The following morning, his business partner in the UAE received a ransom call from Shameer’s phone demanding Rs 1.5 crore. The abductors allegedly threatened his wife to withdraw any police complaint.

Police swiftly tracked his location to Kollam district, around 300 km from the abduction site, and rescued him unharmed. Authorities confirmed that four suspects have been arrested, and further investigation is underway to determine the motive and possible connections behind the kidnapping.

News of Shameer’s rescue sparked relief across social media, with friends, associates, and community members in the UAE and Kerala expressing gratitude to the police for their quick response.
