Visakhapatnam: Two frontline Indian Navy warships, INS Tamal — the eighth Talwar-class stealth frigate — and INS Surat — the latest indigenously built guided-missile destroyer — arrived at Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on August 27 and 28 respectively, reported thehansindia.com.

The visit highlights India’s commitment to enhancing defence collaboration with Saudi Arabia while deepening cultural and diplomatic ties

During the port call, Indian naval personnel will engage with the Royal Saudi Naval Forces (RSNF) and Border Guards in sporting events, professional interactions, and familiarisation activities with naval facilities. Discussions will also focus on strengthening bilateral maritime cooperation.

In addition, the Indian Navy will host a cultural exchange programme for senior RSNF dignitaries, border guards, diplomats, local government officials, and members of the Indian diaspora.

The engagement underscores India’s efforts to not only share operational best practices but also to explore new avenues of cooperation with Saudi Arabia in maritime security and defence.
