Punjab has launched the Rangla Punjab Vikas Fund to help rebuild the state after devastating floods, with the government now appealing to Punjabi industrialists and NRIs to contribute generously. On Tuesday, Industry and NRI Affairs Minister Sanjeev Arora mobilised 13 Ludhiana-based industrialists, who together donated crores of rupees to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, reported tribuneindia.com.

Minister Sanjeev Arora personally donated ₹50 lakh and urged NRIs and companies to come forward with contributions.

  • The contributions ranged from ₹5 lakh to ₹1 crore, with industrialists from multiple sectors stepping up to aid flood recovery efforts

  • Arora emphasised that donations to the fund are exempt from the Foreign Currency Regulations Act (FCRA) and also qualify under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) spending, making it easier for NRIs and corporates to participate

Highlighting the scale of damage, the minister said thousands of kilometers of roads have been washed away, while numerous schools, health centres, and government buildings have been destroyed. “Punjab needs urgent funds to rebuild these critical infrastructures,” he said, stressing that every contribution would help restore normalcy for flood-affected communities.
