‘No more visas for Indians’, say US right-wing supporters, claim ‘America is full’

Conservative activists and politicians criticise H-1B visa programme, citing displacement of American workers

Amid ongoing debates over immigration in the United States, conservative activists and politicians have sparked controversy by targeting Indian immigrants. Charlie Kirk, a prominent conservative voice, wrote on X that the US does not need more visas for people from India reported gujaratsamachar.com.

‘Perhaps no form of legal immigration has so displaced American workers as those from India.’

Kirk’s post came in response to right-wing commentator Laura Ingraham, who warned that future trade deals with India could include more visas. Kirk tweeted, “America does not need more visas for people from India.

Perhaps no form of legal immigration has so displaced American workers as those from India. Enough already. We’re full. Let’s finally put our own people first.”

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis also criticised the H-1B programme, calling it a “total scam” that allows companies to replace American workers with lower-cost foreign labour, largely from India. He added that many US employees are required to train their H-1B replacements before losing their jobs.

DeSantis further highlighted the impact of automation on domestic employment, questioning the need to bring in foreign workers when American citizens are already facing job losses. “Artificial Intelligence is pushing young Americans out of work. Why should we bring in foreign workers when our own citizens need jobs?” he asked.

Both Kirk and DeSantis claimed that many companies are laying off American employees while continuing to hire new H-1B workers or extend existing visas, intensifying debates around immigration, skilled labour, and national employment priorities.
